Project Description

The "Mine ReWIR" alliance intents to contribute to a successful structural change in the Rhenish lignite mining area. To this end, innovation potentials in the areas of internationalization, digitalization, diversification and sustainable value chains are being identified and developed. The aim is to further develop the lignite mining competencies anchored in the Rhenish mining region, to retain know-how in the region and thus contribute to sustainable structural change. The focus is on regional suppliers and municipal players as well as small and medium-sized companies from the mining sector.

The alliance is currently developing a joint strategic concept for the development of permanent alliance structures and the integration of target-oriented individual activities, which will be implemented in the following years in case of a positive assessment by the funding authority. In the long term, the alliance should develop in line with the innovation landscape in the Rhenish mining district and establish itself as a contact for further stages of innovation, especially for suppliers and SMEs.
