Project Description
The research project focusses on processes, formats and types of scientific policy consultancy. It is based on a comparative qualitative case study research design with focus on the National German Science Academy Leopoldina. The research design follows Theoretical Sampling Strategies and data generation is based on qualitative expert interviews (based semi-structured interview guide) with coordinators and contributers to Leopoldina Scientific Assessment Reports. The project aim is to reconstruct and typify the related processes, practices and deliberations/procedure constituting the respective scientific policy assessment reports. Major analytical dimensions are for example the constitution of expert teams, processes shaping structures, formats and contents of assessment report, self-understanding of scientific policy consulters as well as the underlying concept of public communication, policy advice and public and political arenas and their interrelations/interferences
